We’re starting a new series here at House of Miller and it’s all about our favorite local events each month. March is a great month here in the Midwest, specifically in the Michiana area as people gear up for Spring and Summer. So here’s a look at a few of our favorite events that are coming up!
Hops with History
According to the Tippecanoe Place website, Hops with History is a craft beer tasting series. The March series is hosted by Greenbusy Brewery (Big fan alert! Greenbush is fantastic – worth the drive to Sawyer, MI sometime if you can’t make this tasting series). They’ll present 4 of the Greenbush beers and appetizers. You also get a full pint of your favorite beer from the tasting and a tour of the Studebaker Mansion. The event is March 2 & 3 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at 620 W. Washington St., South Bend, IN 46601. Cost is $20/person and you can buy tickets ahead of time or at the door. For more details check out the event page here.
Leprechaun Leap Re-Pete’s Simonton Lake Tavern
Saturday, March 10th, 2018
In case you haven’t heard, the Simonton Lake staple, Pete’s Tavern has new ownership and a clever new name – Re-Pete’s! Show the new owner some local love by turning out for the 2018 Leprechaun Leap. If you’re not interested in submerging yourself in sub-zero water (okay, it’s not quite as cold as all that…) then you can still join in the fun by watching your friends freeze their bums off. It is, after all, for a great cause – to benefit families fighting bills while they battle cancer. No one should have to worry about making a house payment when they’re going through a fight for their lives. If you want to support United Cancer Services of Elkhart County, come watch your friends jump in the lake and have some good eats at Re-Pete’s! The event is Saturday, March 10th 11am-4pm. You can purchase tickets with this link HERE.
Morris Inn Culinary Academy
Sunday, March 11th, 2018
The Morris Inn at Notre Dame is really stepping up it’s game and offering some tasty sounding events! According to the event’s facebook page, there is a Culinary Academy happening Sunday, March 11th from 1:00-2:30pm. The page suggests that you’ll enjoy a “trip around the world and explore different cuisines.” Executive Chef Phil Gulis will present the meal and you’ll also have three wine pairings. The event is in the Morris Inn Private Dining Rooms and is a bargain at $35/person. You can purchase tickets HERE. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and stay up to date on other events. Check out a few of their other March events – Wine Academy? Yes, please!
Ox Bow County Park Hiking Club
Thursday, March 15th, 2018
Spring is here (hopefully – fingers crossed!) and Ox Bow is back with their hiking club. You’ll learn all about the park trails and enjoy some fresh air with a group of like-minded locals. The club meets on the third Thursday of each month through October. The first hike is a one-mile trail and on flat terrain… translation, great opportunity for all fitness levels! The club meets at 6pm at the Ox Bow Haus Shelter but you are required to pre-register by March 14th. You can register by calling the Park Admin at (574) 535-6458. Check out the event Facebook page HERE.
Fiddler on the Roof Musical
March 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 2018
There are few things more local than local theater – and they always need your support! Bethel College is performing the classic Fiddler on the Roof Musical and you don’t want to miss it! The performance is also being interpreted for the d/Deaf community, so everyone can enjoy the show. You can purchase tickets at this link HERE or find out more details on the Facebook Event Page Here.
If you’re looking for more events and things to do in the Michiana area (or in any area, really), the “Events” section of Facebook is a great way to find out what’s happening around you. It’s also a great resource if you’re traveling! Just make sure you adjust the city, or click the “find near me” option.
Happy March!
